On a day like today, I've been thinking a lot about winter.
Not the fight it, push through it version…
but the slow down, root in, tend to what matters version.

On January 10, Trina Battersby, from Prairie Pathways Services & I are hosting a full-day wellness retreat here at The Old Stone Inn. Together we’re creating something that feels deeply needed right now.

This retreat isn’t about becoming a “better” version of yourself.
It’s about coming home to yourself.

🌿 Trina’s role in this day is powerful.
She’ll be guiding us through real, practical ways to ground ourselves in this wild, overstimulated world we’re living in:
• how stress and anxiety live in the body
• how to steady your nervous system when everything feels loud
• how to move into a new year feeling rooted instead of rattled

This isn’t woo-woo for the sake of woo-woo.
It’s compassionate, usable mental-health support you can actually take into real life.

🍲 My part of the day focuses on rooted food and rooted living.
And no — that doesn’t just mean root vegetables.

It means adopting a homesteader’s mindset when it comes to food:
• knowing where it comes from
• sourcing local
• connecting with farmers & growers
• eating with intention and seasonality

Throughout the day, I’ll be feeding you a ridiculous amount of healthy, grounding food & drink, sharing recipes, and talking about how food can be a stabilizing force — not another thing to stress about.

You’ll also experience:
🧘‍♀️ gentle movement woven throughout the day
🎁 thoughtfully curated swag bags (full of useful, beautiful things)
📖 recipes + practical wellness tools to take home
💬 meaningful conversation and space to breathe

This day is about building a foundation.

Office transformations! We’re settling into our new spaces. First up Thor’s office! Yes he gets his very own office! Designing this space was a labour of love and a tribute to our animal partners that help make our office and services unique! While Thor has settled into his role as a therapy dog, Loki Kitty is making some appearances as guard kitty but on strict probation as he learns the ropes! 🫶🏼✨🐾

This Christmas season can bring both light and longing. For many, it’s a time when memories feel especially close and the absence of loved ones is deeply felt.

St. Joseph’s Hospital is offering a Celebration of Life—a quiet, compassionate gathering to honour those who have passed and to hold space for grief, love, and remembrance.

This event will also be live streamed by Halls Funeral Home if you would rather join from the comfort of your home.
