This yoga class is designed for those with difficulty kneeling and balancing. Chairs and supported standing postures will be used to make the class as accessible as possible.
Although many people believe yoga is only for the young and flexible, we believe yoga is for EVERY body. In recent years, many studies of the practice of yoga have proven that yoga helps support the immune system, improves balance, strength, and flexibility, helps maintain cardiovascular health, improves joint health, and can help prevent memory loss. By reducing stress, both physical and mental, and through improved blood flow and strength, yoga promotes healing, reduces inflammation, supports bone health, improves posture, reduces stress on internal organs, and helps maintain range of motion in all joints.
This practice will be a supported standing practice designed for those with limited mobility and/or balance or those with injuries that prevent them from practicing on the floor. We will focus on stability, mobility, strength, individual modifications for injuries and deterioration of the joints, and relaxation. Oh yes... and having fun as a cOMmunity of yogis!
