Disenfranchised grief is the kind of grief that often goes unseen.

It’s the loss that others may not recognize. The relationship that “doesn’t count.” The sorrow that feels minimized, dismissed, or misunderstood.

This can include grieving an ex-partner, a coworker, a pet, a miscarriage, a strained relationship, or someone you loved deeply but privately.

At Jessica’s House Hospice, we want you to know this: your grief is valid. Your loss matters. And you deserve support, no matter the circumstances.

Our upcoming Adult Sibling Loss Support Group offers a safe, compassionate space to connect with others who understand the unique grief that comes with losing a sibling.

Who: Adults 18+ who have experienced the death of a sibling
When: Thursdays, March 19 – April 23
Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Where: Exeter

Together, we’ll share, reflect, and support one another in a space where every story is honoured.

Ambiguous loss is one of the most confusing forms of grief because there isn’t always closure, clarity, or even recognition that a loss has occurred.

It can look like:
• Loving someone who is physically here but living with dementia or significant cognitive change.
• Missing a family member who is physically absent due to estrangement, incarceration, or addiction.
• Grieving the life you expected after a major diagnosis, divorce, or life transition.

These losses are real. The grief is real. Even when others may not fully see it. 💛

Drumroll, please! 🥁❄️

Let’s hear it for Merrin and her amazing crew! Merrin hosted her annual Polar Dip in support of Jessica’s House Hospice. With the help of the incredible Exeter Fire Fighters on January 1st, this fearless group took the plunge for a cause close to our hearts.

Merrin set a goal of $1,200 and absolutely crushed it, raising an incredible $2,908.65! 💙
