Before we close out the month, we would like to recognize our very own Alannah Woodhouse who is the Home Visitor Lead with Maternal Child Health Program. MCH has been working closely with the University of Manitoba regarding a research project focusing on Mental Health and Wellness among First Nation families. Alannah was selected to sit on a panel discussion presentation at a recent conference and spoke about Indigenous-centered Community Engagement. Congratulations Alannah on this incredible opportunity and for the dedication you have to your work and community!

The BFI/BHC and MCH program were thrilled to co-host our monthly women's group on January 26, in the evening, where women gathered to empower one another and craft vision boards that reflected their aspirations, families, and goals for the year. We're deeply grateful to all the incredible women who joined us for an evening of tea, snacks, and meaningful conversations! A special thank you to Jahna and Shayna for leading mindfulness meditation that set the tone for a truly uplifting experience, and for being part of our gathering.

The Maternal Child Health program would like to extend a big thank you to the families that attended the Wabooth/Wapos program on January 27, 2026 that was facilitated by Tim and Elissa Gabriel. We want to thank Tim and Elissa for gathering the Wabooth with help from their friend, and for teaching our families in attendance about snaring, what time of year to snare, how to skin the wabooth, and how to make a delicious wabooth soup. As well as bringing us some Elk shepherd's pie to share with one another. Gichi Miigwetch to the families and to Tim and Elissa for a great afternoon!
