🌟National Addictions Awareness Week: Breaking Chains in Pinaymootang🌟
These past three days have been an eye-opening experience, featuring presentations on fentanyl poisoning, the risks of recreational drug use, and inspiring testimonials of recovery from addiction and gang life. We've highlighted the potential for redemption through personal transformation while acknowledging the challenges and impacts of living with addiction.
Each morning, we engaged with students at the school, followed by afternoon sessions open to the community. The gospel jam, which was open to all communities, was a powerful showcase of testimonies and songs that ignited positive change and deeply impacted lives.
We also celebrated traditions like indigenous games and harvested medicines, emphasizing the significance of land-based healing. Additionally, we promoted self-care with free haircuts and hair braiding services.
A heartfelt thank you to all attendees, Chief & Council, Pinaymootang Community & Family Support, Health, School, Anishinaabe Pimadiziwin Inc, IRTC, and staff for making these meaningful workshops and events possible.
