5 things I will no longer be participating in this year because my energy is sacred

1️⃣ People pleasing - all this has ever done for me is make everyone else happy and not myself. Being afraid to stand in your truth will only keep you stuck exactly where you are

2️⃣ Buying things based off boredom - the amount of money I have wasted because I was bored or feeling low that ended up in goodwill is embarrassing to even think about. Bored? Feeling low? I’m going to work on sitting in that discomfort instead.

3️⃣ Shrinking myself to make others comfortable - as a generator and a cancer my energy is like a pendulum. Some moments or days are low key and I need more rest…others I am bouncing off the walls like I ate 3000lbs of sugar. Both are me and both are authentic. For those who don’t like it… 👉🚪

4️⃣ Saying yes to things I really want to say no to - this just makes me hate my life and makes people treat me like a door mat (not all but most). This has been one of the most liberating things to do in my life that has made me feel more free than anything else. Want to level it up a notch? No is a full sentence.

5️⃣Following trends that don’t make me feel good or make me happy - this one should be a no brainer but the amount of clothes I have bought or haircuts I have asked for that weren’t actually what I wanted? Ridiculous to me now. I’m tired of trying to fit a mood I was never made for.

Life doesn’t have to be spent in cycles or patterns you don’t enjoy.

Most people think stress starts in the mind

But very often, the body notices at first

Tight shoulders
Shallow breathing
Clenching your jaw without realizing it

These are small signals your nervous system might be stuck in a stress response

The tricky part is that many of us have lived with these signals for so long that they start to feel normal

So we ignore them

And we keep pushing through

Learning to notice these early body signals is one of the first steps to changing the patterns that keep your nervous system on high alert

It’s not about forcing yourself to relax

It’s about becoming aware of what your body is already telling you

feeling guilty when you haven’t actually done anything wrong is more common than people realize

Many of us grew up learning that we were responsible for keeping other people happy

So our nervous system learned to scan for any sign that we may have disappointed someone

Even when everything is actually fine

That’s why I noticed it so clearly when I had to miss teaching my yoga class

No one was upset

But the guilt still showed up

That’s the nervous system running an old pattern

The first step of changing these patterns isn’t forcing yourself to react differently

It’s noticing when they show up

Awareness is where change starts
