Groves Hospital Foundation's Mission: Dedicated to raising and stewarding funds for Groves Memorial Community Hospital, to ensure that the residents of Centre Wellington and surrounding areas receive optimal health care. Current Campaign - The New Groves Hospital Project: Our community deserves the best healthcare. A positive patient experience is at the forefront of our thinking. Our new facility will be a model in the delivery of patient-centered rural healthcare. It will have the ability to deliver a model of care that aligns with best practice; it will be capable of accommodating modern technology, providing a framework to address future flexibility and changes in technology; it will have welcoming public spaces and comforting views; meet accessibility standards; our new Inpatient Unit will be 80% private rooms; it will provide facilities that meet infection prevention and control standards and reflect best practices and evidence-based design; the overall footprint of our new hospital will almost double in size to meet the demands of our growing community. Malnutrition often goes unseen — but its impact is real. Malnutrition is a condition that occurs when a person doesn’t get enough nutrients to meet their body’s needs, affecting their strength, healing, and overall health. Across Canada, 45% of patients admitted to medical and surgical units are at risk of malnutrition. This leads to higher rates of falls, pressure injuries, longer hospital stays, and increased mortality. At the Wellington Health Care Alliance, we’re taking action.
A recent screening across our hospitals found that 1 in 4 patients were at risk — and 90% were not receiving support for malnutrition. That’s why we’ve launched our new Malnutrition Prevention Initiative. Led by our Clinical Dietitians, Brooklyn and Mike, this Alliance-wide program is designed to:
✔️ Implement mandatory nutrition screening at admission using the Canadian Nutrition Screening Tool
✔️ Trigger automatic referrals to Registered Dietitians
✔️ Ensure assessment and intervention for every at-risk patient
✔️ Strengthen ongoing collaboration with the Canadian Malnutrition Taskforce to refine and improve our processes
These changes mean better screening ➜ better care ➜ better outcomes.
We’re committed to ensuring every patient receives the timely nutritional support they need to heal safely and fully.

Hudson is only 5 — but he already knows what it means to pay it forward.

After two visits to our Emergency Department, he received a Paw Patrol activity pack that helped keep him calm & busy during a challenging time. Inspired by this kindness, Hudson returned with donations of Hot Wheels toys & activity books to bring comfort to other children who may be going through similar experiences.

Thank you, Hudson — and a huge thank you to the incredible doctors, nurses, & lab team who supported him every step of the way. 🚑🧸

Daniella from Optim launched lives in our catchment and chose Groves as the beneficiary of the funds, in honour of her positive experience when her son was born at Groves. Team members, Daniella (middle) and Kevin (right) delivered the donation to Foundation Executive Director, Lori.
