✨ Frequently Asked Questions – KIDS ✨
We often receive similar questions from families and community members, so we wanted to share a few helpful answers here.
Who do you support?
We support children, youth, and families of all ages. Services include children ages 3–17 who are eligible for funding through the BC Autism Funding Unit (AFU), as well as families seeking private or community-based support.
What approaches do you use?
Our approach combines Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) with play-based, child-centred intervention. All programming is individualized, strengths-based, and designed to be motivating and meaningful — never one-size-fits-all.
Where do services take place?
Support can happen in environments that make the most sense for the child and family, including: caregivers’ homes, community settings, schools or daycares (with consent and collaboration)
Which areas do you serve?
We currently support families across the East Kootenay region, including: Elk Valley (Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford), Cranbrook, Kimberley, Jaffray and surrounding areas.
Who is on the therapy team?
Depending on needs and funding eligibility, services may be provided by Behaviour Support Specialists (BSS), Behaviour Interventionists (BI), and when required, a BCBA who is RASP-approved (e.g., for children under 6 receiving AFU funding).
Is KIDS an approved autism service provider in BC?
Yes — Kootenay Inclusivity & Developmental Services (KIDS) is an approved autism service provider in British Columbia, and eligible services may be funded through the BC Autism Funding Unit.
What does cost look like?
Costs vary depending on the type and number of hours recommended. We begin with a complimentary consultation to explore needs, answer questions, and discuss options transparently.
If you’re wondering whether KIDS might be the right fit for your child or family, we’d be happy to connect.
