Important information about safe baby sleep routines.

Remember the ABCs of safe sleep. It is safest for your baby to sleep:

ALONE - The safest place for your baby to sleep is in the same room but in their own bed.

On their BACK - Always place your baby on their back to sleep, at naptime and nighttime.

In a CRIB - Use a crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards and keep it free of pillows, comforters, quilts and bumper pads.

Horizon Health Network will host a vaccine clinic at the Western Valley Multiplex in the Centreville district of Carleton North on Friday, Nov. 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Another clinic is being set up at the Stanley Health Centre on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. People are encouraged to book an appointment through the provincial scheduler or by calling Tele-Services at 1-833-437-1424 (available Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Most people born in 1970 or later can be protected from measles infection with two doses of vaccine. McKelvie said the measles vaccine has been in use for over 50 years and is safe and highly effective at preventing infections. Those who are unsure of their vaccination status, or that of their children, are urged to contact their health-care provider or local Public Health office.

Public Health is warning of two additional confirmed cases of the measles in the upper Saint John River valley area, with more potential cases possible.

Being fully vaccinated is almost 100% effective in preventing the disease.

If you were born in 1970 or later, you need two doses of measles vaccine. Vaccination clinics will be set up in Stanley and Centreville to facilitate access to vaccines for eligible local residents.
