Just a reminder that next week Saturday the 6th we are holding our annual festive open house. This is a fun event where we get to take some time and visit with everyone, show off our wonderful wildlife building and property and answer your questions in person.

We will have people from Bird Friendly Hamilton Burlington, Coyote Watch Canada and Haldimand Stewardship Council joining. There will be a fun silent auction and draw prices.

We have had some question about why we hold it this time of year (risk of snow storm). The reason is that we have less wildlife in care now than we do during the summer months. It is easier for us to move the animals away from the hustle and bustle of the open house this time.

This bring me to the second question I have been asked several times...no, there will be no wildlife visible or available for visiting during the open house. This is a condition of our authorization, but also the wildlife really don't enjoy people and we do what is in their best interest.

We look forward to seeing everyone and will do our very best to make it a fund event.

Yes ~ this is me.

Students don’t know how introverted their teachers are. Most of us just have situational extroversion: when it’s’ time to stand in front of a group or teach into a camera, we have a switch that we can flip. It turns on action mode.

It’s a weird dichotomy, because most of us that became teachers did so because we fell in love with the quiet, internal experience of the practice. It’s nothing that we can’t manage, but, for most of us, learning to navigate the social landscape of teaching is the trickiest part of the job.
