NOTE TO NON-INDIGENOUS FOLKS: The last few weeks, I've met numerous non-Indigenous organizational leaders, lawyers, and politicians who probably had good intentions. But words without action are empty. It's really getting old seeing outsiders play into Indigenous causes without learning a single thing about it. So, I started asking them, what is their favourite call to action and why is it so important? How are they incorporating it into their life? Knowledge is power, so don't be afraid of history and the transformative power of decolonizing your mind, even if youre non-Indigenous. Read the TRC Calls To Action. Learn them. Memorize them. Ask your politicians to do them. Support them.

Don’t use Truth and Reconciliation Day as a day to promote your own agenda! It is a day that many First Nation, Metis and Inuit families suffered time and time again. I’m tired as a social worker seeing other professionals using this day to their own benefit! Be RESPECTFUL 🪶 Marsi Cho.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Fort Sask
Join us for a free community event to honour Survivors and families, reflect on the past, and build our shared future of reconciliation.

Tuesday, September 30 | 10:00 am–3:00 pm | The Fort Heritage Precinct (inside the old fort)

Event highlights include:
• Healing Hands of Reconciliation — Raising of a 26-foot teepee featuring artwork by Ojibwe artist Ellie Lagrandeur, with hundreds of community handprints pledged to reconciliation
• Teepee Teachings — Cultural teachings and a sharing circle guided by local Knowledge Keepers
• Bannock & Stew Lunch — Free for the first 150 people

Note: This is a rain-or-shine event. The teepee will be raised outdoors regardless of weather. Please bring your own chair/blanket
