Clinical Counsellor (Part-Time IC)
Healing Family Matters Counselling (Fort Saskatchewan, AB) is welcoming applications for a Clinical Counsellor (Part-Time Independent Contractor) to help us continue offering meaningful, heart-centered support to adults, couples, teens, and children in our community.

This may be the perfect fit if you…

• Are drawn to creative and experiential approaches such as expressive arts, sandtray, and symbolic methods
• Are passionate about modalities like Relational Life Therapy (RLT), the Gottman Method, Couples Institute, CBT, IFS, and somatic-based approaches
• Want a flexible schedule, a fully furnished office, and consistent referrals
• Value a supportive team culture and appreciate clinical mentorship

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Halloween can be exciting and sometimes overwhelming - for kids (and adults, too!).

Between costumes, crowds, and sugar rushes, emotions can run high.

Remember: it’s okay to slow down, skip the busy events, or set boundaries that help your family feel calm and safe.

The best memories come from moments of connection, not perfection.

From all of us at Healing Family Matters Counselling, we wish you a safe, fun, and emotionally gentle Halloween!

Kids with ADHD can feel emotions more intensely, and regulating those feelings takes time and support.

Therapy helps children learn how to name their emotions, find calm, and build coping skills that last.

When parents model empathy and patience, kids learn that emotions aren’t something to fear - they’re something to understand. 🌿

Children with ADHD aren’t “acting out” to cause trouble - they’re communicating through behaviour.

Big emotions, impulsivity, and distraction often mask feelings of frustration or overwhelm.

When families learn to see what’s beneath the behaviour, connection grows stronger, and so does confidence. 💛

For many with ADHD, emotions arrive fast and strong - that’s not a lack of control, it’s part of how the ADHD brain processes experiences.

Therapy provides a safe space to unpack those waves, build grounding strategies, and learn how to respond rather than react. 🌿

When one or both partners have ADHD, communication can feel like a challenge, but it doesn’t mean connection is out of reach.
With understanding, structure, and patience, couples can learn to work with each other’s differences instead of against them.

Therapy can help create a shared language for love, attention, and accountability.

ADHD is often misunderstood as “just trouble paying attention,” but it’s so much more. It can impact organization, emotional regulation, relationships, and self-esteem.

Understanding ADHD means looking beyond labels and supporting the person as a whole. You are not lazy. You are not broken. You’re learning how your brain works best. 💛

This Thanksgiving, we’re pausing to appreciate the moments that bring us together, even the imperfect ones.

Gratitude doesn’t have to be grand; sometimes it’s as simple as a quiet morning, a kind word, or a bit of laughter shared at the dinner table.

From all of us at Healing Family Matters Counselling, thank you for being part of our community. We’re grateful for the courage, honesty, and care you bring to every conversation. 🧡
