How are we already halfway through the month of March?!

Did you know that March is Social Work month?

Social workers are committed to helping and caring for so many different parts of our communities. Their work is truly invaluable, and so many different populations benefit from their expertise. Still, they are often under-appreciated and underpaid. A huge THANK YOU to the many members of the NBASW that show up everyday to make our communities stronger. And of course, a very special shoutout to our three amazing social workers at Prism Counselling, Lyne, Sarah and Melissa.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today is not only about celebrating the achievements, resilience and contributions of women all around the world,

but also about acknowledging that society still has lots of work to do. Inequalities, discrimination, bias, and narrow views of womanhood still exist all around us.

May we celebrate and uplift women not only today, but 365 days of the year 🫶🏻

In the world of private practice, personal accountability to maintain current and relevant education and training is super important. Once we graduate, we have a lot of flexibility, but along with that comes responsibility to put in the extra work.

Here’s what a few of us are working on right now:

🌼 Kat is working on an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy certificate and clinical supervision training

🌼 Nat and Mel are both attending a professional development workshop hosted later this month by local fellow therapist and educator, Nathan Thompson, on relational psychoanalytic work (think therapist/client relationship!)

Some office updates 👇🏻
- No insurance coverage? Brittany is now accepting COUPLES at the lower rate of $60/hour. This is a rare opportunity! She’s also taking on new clients for individual counselling too 😄
- Nat is also now taking on couples. Nat is licensed and insured, a great option for those who do have private coverage.
- Last but certainly not least… we are so sad to report that Patricia will be leaving her position in a few weeks. We will miss her dearly. She has been such an integral part of our team. Truly a kind soul with a fantastic work ethic 💜 With that said, we have a new awesome person starting soon 🕰️

Holy moly! To say that I’ve been surprised and overwhelmed by the amount of interest in our job posting would be an understatement. With that said, I interviewed some great people this week and we have closed the posting. Stay tuned for an update as we prepare to welcome a new member 👀
