🤢🤒😴

My oldest (who’s almost 5-how did that happen!) has been sick for a few days. She’s been sleeping away most of the day and night. She hasn’t napped in almost 2yrs but rules don’t apply right now.

SLEEP TIP // If your baby is sick and you are wondering what to do about their sleep routine, here's what we recommend: Don’t worry about it. Here's why: First, parental instinct is a powerful thing. Don’t ignore it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everybody wants to feel comforted when they’re sick, particularly our little ones who can’t even understand why they’re feeling the way they do. So when they are looking for some extra help to get to sleep while sick, give it to them. The beauty of having a great schedule and overall good sleep habits most of the time, is that you can always go back to them after deviations like travel, fun, or, yes, sickness. So rest easy. If your little one is sick, tend to them, cuddle them, let them sleep when they want, hold them a little bit more. As soon as they turn the corner, go back to the solid sleep habits you had before. You’ll be surprised how quickly they get back on board.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And remember, the better they sleep, the stronger their immune system. So if your baby has been practicing good sleep habits, hopefully any illness will be short lived or will skip your little one altogether!

This week we’re getting a new deck! Thanks to some posts that weren’t installed properly 🤦‍♀️

It’s pretty loud and they start early. So Olivia’s naps are happening during construction 🔨

To help drown out all the noise I’ve turned up her sound machine. If she gets woken up early and has some short naps I’ll be putting her to bed earlier to help make up for that lost 😴

We went through this a few months ago with our middle one (3yrs). Our oldest had never had bad dreams so it was somewhat new territory.

We did use a night 💡 for a few weeks until his fears were comforted. 👉make sure that any night light you use is 4watts or less. Any higher and it can affect melatonin (💤 hormone) production.

We did have to comfort his fears in the night but after reassuring him that all the doors and windows were locked he was back on track a few weeks later.

SLEEP TIP // If your child wakes up with nightmares, the most important thing is for them to feel safe and secure. It’s okay to go into their room to provide them that comfort. Hug her and cuddle her and tell her everything is going to be okay. Our suggestion would be to reassure her in her own room and try not to get into the habit of her crawling into your bed. That can be a slippery slope and a habit you may not want to start in your home.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s important that she knows her sleep environment is safe and secure, but we don’t recommend you start looking under her bed for monsters or getting out the monster spray. That is only proving that these monsters exist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Communication is key so lie down with her and talk about her dream, try and pinpoint the fear or anxiety to see if there are any underlying issues that she may be experiencing in her day-to-day. A great trick we like to use is to encourage your child to come up with a funny or happy alternative ending to the dream, which will lessen the nightmare’s power. Could the monster become your friend? Can the scary room turn into a fun playroom? If your child needs a nightlight to ease the anxiety about the dark that is okay but try to not make it a long term solution.

I’m a lucky gal. I’m so fortunate to work with some amazing clients and this gal is included. I took a short break from my time at and held a sleep clinic at ’s home for her amazing mama friends. I had the pleasure of working with Whitney and her family and it was so great to meet Whitney and Sonny in person! I shared some important sleep information to help everyone’s kiddos sleep better. Thank you for having me Whitney 💕. Now it’s back to conferencing my butt off at !
