Something to be mindful of as women and the individuals that love us...
Warning this may be a long post but definitely important. On Wednesday evening's session we discussed our experience with being a woman. I had mentioned that a few years prior I had made a post on the risk of women losing any traction if we took our rights for granted.
I am not looking to get into a debate on abortion, like many decisions in life I believe it is a private one. But like any other private decision...(like whether or not to have children, how many children to have, whom to marry, your career choice, choices in medical treatment etc). I believe it is an independent, personal choice of the woman in the situation.
Picture below is the current US Supreme Court judges, they may due to their personal... not professional beliefs, values and judgments remove the long standing right for a woman to have control and choice of her body.
Below you will find the post I wrote.

As we say farewell to 2018, let’s not forget there is still “women’s work” to do! I remember while completing a course in feminism, stating that as women we had become comfortable in our status. With comfort we risk losing any traction of rights we had gained in equality. That was in 2012, little did I know how far we hadn’t come or how big the risk was.
We don’t have to become public, in your face activists. What we can do is hold space for women, not be silent when a conversation needs to be had. Talk about what is or isn’t happening in the world that impacts woman. Don’t limit these conversations to other women, include the men in your life as well. Help them understand any woman issue is a man’s issue as well.
Let’s have conversations with our children, remind children that we all have a responsibility to keep each other safe regardless of gender. For the girls, yes, no means no. And no one has a right to invade your space without permission. For the boys, respect no, and silence should be taken as a no as well.
We all have women in our lives we love, let’s work towards a safer world for all of us. Always know we have the ability to help another by offering a safe space, with no fear of judgment.
Together we rise, here’s to moving forward in 2019.
Love, She
