Q: How to find a comfortable winter boot
A: Here are some steps to help you pick comfortable winter boots!
1. Take note of where you are and the conditions you find. If you are going to be on ice, take a look at the tread to prevent slips and falls. Be sure that the tread goes all the way to the edge.
2. How long will you be outside? If you will work outside all day, warmer boots may be needed than for workers who are outside for very short periods. If your boots are too warm, it can actually predispose you for chills in the feet because of sweating.
3. Make sure your boots fit properly! In addition to causing pain, shoes that are too tight can cut off circulation and lead to cold feet. Also, take into consideration the socks you will wear. Your thick winter socks may cause your shoe to fit tight.
4. If you wear orthotics, look for boots that can fit your orthotics! In most cases, a boot with a removable insole is the best option.
