🌱 Trauma-Informed care also means that we understand the biological, psychological, and social factors that may impact the way our clients show up.

🌱 We understand how these factors might intersect across populations and we tailor our treatments and the way we practice accordingly.

🌱 Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. They’ve got all kinds of lumps, bumps, textures and hair.

🌱 They sweat, they get dry, they break out, they have all kinds of NORMAL beautiful irregularities that make you HUMAN (not weird)

🌱 We are all perfectly imperfect 🤲

Trust is PARAMOUNT when it comes to trauma-informed care. 🙏

🌱 We can have top tier skills, know all the tricks of the trade- but if our client doesn’t trust us, our treatments simply will not be as effective.

🌱 It’s a very vulnerable thing to trust soemone with our pain. Our bodies have a mind of thier own and we need to respect and listen to them as therapists.

🌱 Building trust takes time, patience, gentle hands, and an open heart.

🌱It might take minutes, months, or years- there is no right way, there is no timelines, there is only meeting you where you’re at and respecting whatever that looks like.

🌱Thank you for trusting us, it truly is an honor. 🫶

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Grounded Wellness acknowledges that it carries out its work on the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq and Peskotomuhkati peoples.

Today we take time in peaceful reflection of the thousands of lives that were stolen.

Today we listen.

Today, and always, we take time to educate ourselves on the devastating impact that Residential Schools had and continue to have on Indigenous peoples across Canada.

The last “school” closed in 1996. Not even thirty years ago families were torn apart and brutally stripped of their culture and blatantly dehumanized. As a collective, we continue to see the inequalities and generational trauma these schools have caused to our communities.

It is our responsibility to educate ourselves and advocate for Indigenous rights. It is our responsibility to move the conversation forward and to work together towards decolonization and reconciliation. Otherwise, we are continuing to let systems of oppression wreak havoc on innocent lives.

Today, and always, we stand with you.

A re-post because this theme seems to be emerging a lot lately. Right now we are living in a challenging political climate. We are seeing so much hate, anger, and divide. I constantly hear folks putting themselves and others down for “not doing enough”. A lot of us are in survival, a lot of us are doing the best we can with what we have, and we never know what someone else’s journey looks like.
Be kind. To yourself, and others. Cut yourself some slack. You are doing better than you think. 🫶

🌱 If our basic physical and psychological needs are not met we cannot reach our full potential.

🌱 Many folks simply DO NOT HAVE the time, resources, financial means, physical, and/or psychological safety to practice regular self care.

🌱 Self care doesn’t have to be elaborate routines, spa days, and all organic eating. It doesn’t have to remove you completely from your life, rather it should help bring more harmony into it.

🌱 Self care can look like making a budget, taking three deep breaths, saying no to a workout, catching ourselves ruminating and redirecting our thoughts, or cutting ourselves a break when we feel like we’re never doing enough.

🌱 You are doing better than you think. 💛
