I joined the Foundation Health Team in July of this year. I knew when I came to this clinic that we were a very military/veteran focused clinic, but I had no idea what was in store for me.
Since my move, I have met countless veterans who served from 5 years all the way to 35 years. I sometimes ask them if they would have changed their path, had they they chance to go back. Most say they wouldn’t change a thing; I often am shocked by their endless amounts of courageousness. These women and men gave up their youth, their warm beds, their Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter dinners with family so that we could have them with ours. They live with countless ailments that affect their ability to play with their grandchildren, go to the store freely and even sometimes leave their homes confidently.
Today, I recognize all of those serving and those who have served for our freedom of thought and speech, our freedom of conscience and religion, our freedom of peace and our freedom to choose.
I’m grateful to be apart of a team that is driven to help all people receive the healthcare they deserve. I, as a health care professional, will never stop learning. I will never stop urging for proper health care all around and I will never stop striving for better.
To all of the Canadian Military, today -and everyday-
Thank you.
Lest We Forget.
