This week we are celebrating someone who truly means a lot to our Aurora family—Shaun. 💙

At Continuing Care this week we celebrated 8 years of sobriety with Shaun! Watching his journey over the years has been nothing short of inspiring. From the early days to where he stands today, his growth, strength, and commitment to recovery have left a lasting impact on so many of us.

What makes Shaun so special is the way he continues to show up—not just for himself, but for others. He has become a steady, trusted presence in our Continuing Care and Aftercare Alumni meetings. Whether it’s sharing his experience, offering support, or simply being there to listen, Shaun is someone people can count on.

He reminds us that recovery is about connection, about giving back, and about walking alongside others no matter where they are in their journey.

Shaun, we see you, we appreciate you, and we are so proud of the life you’ve built. Thank you for being such an important part of this community. Congratulations on 8 years—what an incredible milestone.

This week at Aurora Reunification Village, our staff took part in First Aid & CPR training—an important step in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our care.

From learning life-saving techniques to building confidence in emergency response, our team came together with a shared commitment to preparedness and support. These skills not only strengthen our workplace but reflect our dedication to creating a safe, responsive, and compassionate environment for our clients.

Maggie, Edith, Maverick and Archie enjoying the Spring weather at our paddock right here at Aurora!

As the days get longer and the weather warms up, nature offers countless opportunities for healing. At Aurora, we encourage embracing the season as part of the recovery journey.

Simple spring activities can have a powerful impact:
🌿 Going for mindful walks and soaking in fresh air
🌸 Spending time in nature to reduce stress and anxiety
🌞 Practicing grounding by feeling the sun and earth around you
🚶‍♀️ Moving your body outdoors to boost mood and energy

Take a moment to step outside, breathe deeply, and embrace the new beginnings around you. 💛

At the Aurora Reunification Village in Brandon, service work is an important part of healing, growth, and connection.

Our residents and staff have come together to launch a new Community Cleanup Initiative, focused on giving back to the neighbourhoods around us while building pride and teamwork. What started as a simple idea has quickly become a meaningful opportunity to contribute to cleaner, healthier shared spaces.

Together, we head out into the community to pick up litter and care for local areas, helping clients build skills, strengthen relationships, and experience the value of service work firsthand.

This will now be a monthly event, allowing us to continue making a positive and lasting impact in our community.

We are proud of everyone involved and look forward to growing this initiative together. 💙

Clients had a hopping good time this Easter! 🐰🥚
Our Easter Egg Hunt had over 400 eggs, followed by Bunny Bingo, Hungry Bunny, and an Egg Toss. The day wrapped up with some very special family visits, making it a wonderful day full of laughter, connection, and fun for everyone.

We love creating moments where our clients can feel joy, community, and support — and today was full of all three. 💛

This Easter, we are reminded that hope, renewal, and new beginnings are possible for everyone.

At Aurora Recovery Centre, we see these new beginnings every day — in the courage it takes to ask for help, in the strength it takes to keep going, and in the healing that happens one day at a time.

Easter is a time of renewal and reflection. A time to reconnect with what matters most — family, community, culture, and yourself.

From all of us at Aurora, we wish you a peaceful and hopeful Easter weekend.
Recovery is possible. Hope is real. And no one has to walk this journey alone.
