Remembrance Day
Today, we pause to pay tribute to and commemorate all individuals who have served and made sacrifices in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping. We don the poppy as a symbol of appreciation and contemplation — for the valour, fortitude, and selflessness exhibited by countless individuals.
As we reflect, it is essential to acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous veterans, whose service and sacrifices were frequently overlooked. Many Indigenous soldiers served with distinction, despite encountering discrimination in their homeland. Their bravery extended beyond the battlefield — their languages became potent instruments of protection and strategy. During both World Wars, Indigenous languages, including Cree, Ojibwe, and Navajo, were utilised as code languages to securely transmit vital messages — codes that the enemy could not decipher.
Today, we commemorate all who served, from every background and community, united in their dedication to peace and freedom. Lest we forget. 🕊️🌺

🎃 Happy Halloween from the Bonnyville Indian Métis Rehabilitation Centre! 🎃
Today, our clients and staff celebrated Halloween with some sober fun! We know that boredom in recovery can be a trigger, so we made sure to fill the day with engaging and meaningful activities.
Our clients showed off their creativity in a Pumpkin Carving Contest, with special guest Zane from Kukum’s House as our judge — thank you, Zane, for joining us! We also had a Best Costume Contest for staff, and everyone brought their festive spirit and great energy.
It was a wonderful day of laughter, connection, and community. We hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! 🧡👻🎃

Happy Thanksgiving from BIMRC!
Today, we gather to celebrate with teachings from our Elder Alice and a feast hosted by our Elder Daryl for our clients
For Indigenous peoples, Thanksgiving is more than a holiday—it is a time to honor the strength, resilience, and enduring traditions of our ancestors. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection to the land, our cultures, and each other.
We give thanks not just for abundance, but for the teachings, stories, and relationships that sustain us year-round.
With gratitude,
The BIMRC Team

Donation Request for Online Fundraising Auction

On behalf of the Bonnyville Indian Metis Rehabilitation Centre, a non-profit drug and alcohol treatment centre dedicated to helping individuals and families heal from addiction, I am reaching out to request your support for our upcoming online fundraising auction.
Our centre provides vital programming, counselling, cultural supports, and safe recovery services to individuals in need, regardless of their financial situation. We rely on community partnerships and the generosity of people like you to continue offering these life-changing services.
