There are times when you need the silence of animals
to recover from the mere presence of humans.
And that’s not anti-people.
It’s nervous system truth.
Humans are loud.
Even when they’re quiet.
Expectations.
Conversations.
Subtext.
Tone.
Performance.
Energy exchange.
It’s constant.
Then you walk into a stable.
And there’s just… breath.
Warmth.
Hay dust in the light.
A slow blink.
A tail swish.
No agenda.
No small talk.
No “should.”
Just presence.
Horses don’t ask you to be impressive.
They don’t need you polished.
They don’t care about your productivity, your body, your bank balance, your social skills.
They read your heartbeat.
They notice your breathing.
They respond to what’s real.
And sometimes that quiet, honest space
is exactly what recalibrates us.
Not because we hate people.
But because being human in the world can be a lot.
So if you find yourself leaning against a stable door,
saying nothing,
feeling your shoulders drop for the first time all day…
You’re not being antisocial.
You’re regulating.
And honestly?
That’s one of the healthiest things you can do. 🤍🐴
