Visiting a Spa is a very personal experience, and at our Spa, we've had the good fortune of meeting some incredible people, and over time, we've grown to know them personally. So, it's only fair that we share a little background on who we are and why we do what we do.
My name is Garth and my Partner’s name is Karen. I am a Certified Medical Missionary and Karen has been a Skin Care Specialist for 40 years. Together, we are the Owners and Founders of Eden Springs Float Spa & Wellness Centre, which was established in 2017.
One of the most frequently asked questions we get is, why we opened a Float Spa. Well, first of all, we’re not just a Float Spa, we’re a Float Spa and Wellness Centre. We offer Float Therapy, Esthetics, Skin Care Treatments and Massage Therapy Services, all of which you can find in our “SPA TREATMENTS” Menu. Anyway, simply put, the primary purpose and mission of Eden Springs Float Spa & Wellness Centre, is to help others live a healthy, pain-free life. And, as we have mentioned on our Home Page, we're passionate about what we do. Through the services we provide, our goal is to help our Clients Relieve Pain, Reduce Stress, Increase Rest and Relaxation, Improve their Quality of Life and their Overall feeling of Well-being. Here’s why...
In 2011, my Brother who was also my Partner's late husband - Steven (Ricki), was diagnosed with stage four Nasopharyngeal Cancer. During his battle with this fatal disease, one of his struggles was managing severe stress and chronic pain. After a great deal of research, we discovered that Float Therapy provides relief for people suffering with severe stress and chronic pain, due to serious illnesses like Cancer, Fibromyalgia and other degenerative diseases.
Sadly, we were not able to set up the Float Spa in time to help Steven and he lost his battle with Cancer in 2016. After some thoughtful consideration, we decided that we still wanted to open a Float Spa, to help others who struggle with severe stress and chronic pain.
In 2017, we opened Eden Springs Float Spa and Wellness Centre. Since our opening, we have dedicated one day each week to helping people suffering with severe stress and chronic pain due to serious illness, who cannot otherwise afford Float Therapy.
While we were unfortunately, unable to help Steven to effectively relieve his stress and chronic pain, we can certainly help many others to relieve their pain and suffering. Helping others to have better quality life is a gift we cherish and we get to provide this amazing treatment to others in memory of Steven Ricki. Just a Small but Valuable Note to Anyone Reading This...
Those of us who enjoy good health, often times can't fully understand or appreciate the stress and chronic pain that others with serious illness go through. Karen and I only have an appreciation of this because of our personal experience, caring for someone we love. But, here's something you may not be aware of. During our research, we also discovered that 77% of reasonably healthy people experience physical symptoms caused by stress. And, 73% of people regularly experience psychological symptoms caused by stress.
Stress is a Killer, and it is linked to several diseases and disorders such as Heart Problems, Arthritis, Anxiety, Depression, Obesity, Cancer and many more degenerative diseases.
And, not only does Float Therapy help with Severe Stress and Chronic Pain, we also discovered that it has been shown to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System, while suppressing the Sympathetic Nervous System, which is otherwise known as the "STRESS RESPONSE". So what does this all mean?
What this means is that The Sympathetic Nervous System directs the body's rapid involuntary response to dangerous or stressful situations. A flash flood of hormones boosts the body's alertness and heart rate, sending extra blood to the muscles. Ultimately, this is the experience of someone who is constantly in a state of Severe Stress or Suffering from Chronic Pain. But, when the Parasympathetic Nervous System is activated through Float Therapy, this causes a decrease in potentially harmful hormones such as Epinephrine and Cortisol and causes an increase in Beneficial Hormones, such as Dopamine and Endorphins. This Encourages a Healthy Immune System, Relieves Stress, Reduces Pain and Helps to Relax the body and mind, which Promotes Healing.
