Where to begin?? Well, let’s start here: John is retiring (he told me not to use the ‘R’ word but I’ll explain more at the end).
Eleven years ago we made a big decision. When many in their 50s are thinking about taking a step back and slowing down, we decided to take a step forward and ramp things up a bit. We opened De Jager Town Square I.D.A. Pharmacy on June 15, 2015. After serving the town of Goderich as a pharmacist for 33 years, John took the chance that some in the community would continue to trust him with their care in this new venture. We have been blown away by the love and support in this wonderful town over the years. Our cup truly runneth over. In some cases he’s been blessed to serve multiple generations in the same families - we’ve rejoiced with you in the good times, and grieved with you in your losses. You all TRULY matter to us and we care deeply for each and every one of you.
We’re also so grateful for each incredible employee we’ve had over the years, from our humble beginnings with just Amy, Katie, Meghan, and Steve, to a full complement of 13 hard workers. It’s always been busy, fun, annnnd okay - stressful at times!
We’ve sold our business, and today (April 14) officially handed the reins over to Alli Meyer. We are so excited that you will be looked after by this extremely knowledgeable and dedicated young pharmacist. She comes to us having worked for three years with one of the best, Kristen Watt. She graduated with honours in 2023 with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Waterloo, and is eager for you to put your good health in her capable hands!
Rest assured you WILL still see John taking a shift here and there, but we are looking forward to much more time with our kids, grandkids, and church family.
And with that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
