During flare-ups, psoriasis causes itchiness and pain in the inflamed skin."

Oct. 24 is WORLD AMYLOIDOSIS DAY. "Amyloid is formed when certain proteins fold in an abnormal way to form fibrils, which have a unique chemical structure. These protein fibrils progressively deposit and accumulate in organs and tissues of the body, disrupting normal function. Without treatment this may lead to organ damage and eventually organ failure. Improved testing methods have increased the ability to identify the proteins which are known to misfold and cause amyloidosis."
