Time Blocking: Everyone thinks they are good at multitasking ( myself included) but it is actually impossible to give multiple things 100% at the same time. Time blocking is a way for you to efficiently and effectively use your time to accomplish tasks. You will be able to accomplish more things with a level of quality if you implement time blocking for certain tasks. Time blocking is also a really great way to practice the mindfulness tool of doing one thing at a time. Honestly, it sounds so simple you might be 🤔 🤯 but integrate it into your week for certain tasks and see what happens.

This therapist LOVES DBT and you know why? It gives clients real skills that when practiced provide them with real change in their lives.

Dialectical means "the existence of opposites." In DBT, people are taught two seemingly opposite strategies: acceptance (i.e., that their experiences and behaviours are valid), and change (i.e., that they have to make positive changes to manage emotions and move forward).

Example: We often become stuck and see situations as cut and dry, or black and white.However, life is typically more complicated than the all-or-nothing dichotomies we get caught in. Using dialectics, we see the relative truth on both sides and the resulting synthesis moves us away from the extremes of black and white into shades of gray. We then discover the middle ground and/or what we previously missed in our thinking, in our behavior, and in how we relate to others. This discovery leads us to more effective behavior.

Compliment yourself daily until you believe it. Our inner dialogue influences our emotions and behavior. What we tell ourselves is so powerful. It might feel uncomfortable at first but overtime it will become easier. Talk to yourself like you would talk to someone you love, a young child or someone who is struggling. If you can give them compassion and see their worth you can do this for yourself ❤️
