Shyann's calendar is open!

Shyann is a MSW qualifying student, but she isn't new to providing therapy! She has experience working with youth and adults in a variety of settings. Shyann will be clinically supervised by myself and Jodi Schollaardt (Wandering North Therapy) for the duration of her practicum. Student rates will apply. Book now!

Shyann's calendar is now OPEN!!! Shyann will be doing her MSW practicum hours with myself and Jodi Schollaardt with Wandering North Therapy. She has experience in the above areas and has most recently been working as part of a crisis response team and as part of a team of social workers supporting schools and students. She is currently working to complete her Perinatal Mental Health certification and is looking forward to developing further skills in this area. If you are interested in booking with Shyann for a session she will be seeing new clients in January 2026. Shyann's sessions will be offered at a discounted student rate. I work with a lot of client who are in relationships with toxic people. Ex's, spouses, partners, friends, family and children. One of the things that comes up the most often is the disbelief around some of the behaviors of the toxic person. It is incredibly frustrating to see this person "get away" with all the hurtful and manipulative things they do. They win court cases, win over friends and family. When we were in relationship, we were part of the cover up. We didn't always share what was happening or helped to excuse it. We were often so good at it, that people had no idea! Some may never see what you saw, but many will. You don't need to defend yourself. You know your truth, even if others don't. 💙

The way you are grieving is your way. There is no rule book. No "right" way to do things. Some days you will allow the pain to wash over you, some days you will push it away. Grief doesn't allow you do "do it wrong". Think of grief like waves. Sometimes they are overwhelming and you can't catch your breath before the next ones comes. Sometimes things are calmer and you can bob along with them. Remember that you don't have to do it alone. Remember that there are people who want to help you weather storms, will throw you a life preserver and help you keep your head above water. 💙

I used to hate Mondays. Dragging my butt out of bed yearning for it to be a Friday instead. What I didn't realize is that I was unintentionally screwing myself for the day/week. My mindset about Monday's set the tone. It took me quite awhile to figure this out. Then I changed it. Mondays can be the beginning, so what do you want the beginning of the week to look like? Our belief in our ability to cope with whatever life throws at us is invaluable. That cult leader in your brain tells you otherwise, it wants you to believe that you can't handle it. Kick it to the curb. Tell it to sit down and shut up as you have s**t to do!! If you need help with this, of course I am always here. I love telling cult leaders where to go!💙
