Many parents of teen athletes care about their overall health, but often don’t think about their vision until there’s a problem.

But eyesight can change quickly during the school and sports years. Clear vision is really important for playing well, feeling confident on the field or court, and staying coordinated!

Regular eye exams are key to helping teens do their best in school and sports, ensuring they stay sharp on and off the court.

Good vision isn’t just about seeing clearly; it’s about endurance. If your eyes feel exhausted before your shift ends, that’s a sign worth listening to.

Whether you’re driving, lifting, teaching, charting, or caregiving, eye comfort affects performance. Strong days start with supported vision.

Parents juggle screens, homework, and busy schedules, but kids’ eyes are still developing. 🤓

Vision issues don’t always show up as complaints; sometimes they look like frustration or avoiding reading.

Clear vision supports learning, confidence, and long-term eye health. Early checks matter more than most people realize.

January is also Braille Literacy Month ✨️

Reading isn’t only something we do with our eyes. For many Canadians, Braille is how they learn, work, and navigate the world.

Braille literacy supports equal opportunity at school, on the job, and in everyday life. Awareness starts with understanding.

When vision loss occurs, access to tools like Braille helps preserve independence and quality of life. Comprehensive eye care means planning for all outcomes.

❄️ Cold Prairie winters are tough on more than trucks and tools; they’re hard on eyes, too.

Dry air, wind, and glare from snow can quietly cause irritation and strain.

🚨If your eyes burn or water outdoors, that’s not “just winter.” Make sure to schedule an appointment with your optometrist!

Long days on the job site, in the classroom, or in the shop all have one thing in common: your eyes are working overtime. 😪

Eye strain doesn’t always show up as blurry vision; it can look like headaches, fatigue, or trouble focusing.

If your eyes feel “done” before your shift is over, it’s worth paying attention. Your vision should support your work, not fight it. 💪🏼

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month 🗓️

Glaucoma is often called the silent thief of sight, not because it’s rare, but because it doesn’t announce itself. Many people lose peripheral vision slowly, without pain or obvious warning. By the time it’s noticed, damage can be permanent.

Regular eye exams don’t just check vision; they also help protect it long before symptoms appear.

Planning for holiday parties or winter travel? 🎉 Contact lenses can make it easier to enjoy every moment, no fogged-up glasses from the cold or snow glare! 👀

💡 Pro tip: Cold air and dry heat can dehydrate your lenses (and your eyes). Keep a bottle of artificial tears handy, and blink often to stay comfortable.

If it’s been more than a year since your last contact lens check, now’s the perfect time to update your prescription before the new year!
