Spring is almost here and so are the Speech and Language Baskets!

Since we know that life can get in the way of preparing and planning these fun activities, we are thrilled to announce that we've done the hard work for you - no need for you to think of how to incorporate your speech and language goals within your Easter plans!! Each basket comes with all the materials you need to complete every activity. Everything is ready to go!

Baskets also include a custom home program, developed by our Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistant, custom to your child's specific speech and language goals.

Baskets will be sold at $130 each, and orders will be accepted until March 13th, 2026. Only a limited number of baskets will be made. First come, first serve! Receipts will be issued for the purchase of a basket (for reimbursement by the OAP and insurance providers - if eligible).

Volunteer Opportunity!

Breakthrough Speech & Language Therapy is seeking volunteers to support our team by helping facilitate client social events and assisting with the preparation of therapy materials and related activities.

What you’ll help with:
• Preparing therapy materials and resources
• Assisting therapists during community social events
• Gaining hands-on experience in a private clinic setting

This is a fantastic opportunity for students or anyone interested in speech therapy, healthcare, education, or community work.
Volunteers must be 16+ years old and willing to complete a police/vulnerable persons check for our records.

Let's bake for the holidays!

Holiday baking = speech practice!

Whether it’s cookies or hot chocolate, kitchen time is perfect for language.

Try this at home:

- Have your child name ingredients to help build your child's vocabulary.

- Ask them to help with steps: “Pour,” “mix,” “stir.”

- Talk about opposites: hot/cold, big/small, soft/hard.

- Tip: Slow down and describe what you see, hear, and smell—kids love it!

Let's read for the holidays:

A great Christmas book for speech time!
We love reading “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” with kids this month.
Ask your child to name pictures or sounds they hear.
Practice words like snow, star, Grinch, tree.
After reading, ask:
“What happened first?”
“What was your favorite part?”

Simple tip: Don’t worry about perfection—just have fun talking together!

🎄✨ It's officially Christmastime at Breakthrough, and we’re excited to announce our Christmas Coloring Contest Draw!

Everyone is welcome to join in the holiday fun—clients and non-clients of all ages can submit their festive artwork. Each coloring page sent in counts as one entry into the draw, and we’ll be holding separate draws for our Sudbury and North Bay locations. 🖍️🎁

The winners will be announced on December 18th, so get your crayons, markers, or pencils ready and share your creativity with us this season!
