Before studying Massage Therapy, she came from a background in dance; both performing and teaching. In 2007 she graduated from the Performance Dance Studies program at George Brown College. She loves working as a massage therapist because it allows her to combine her love of science with the art of health care in a personalized environment, integrating her background in movement with her anatomy training to provide therapeutic relief. She utilizes her experience in dance and her background in movement to better understand clients’ specific needs — whether it is an injury focused treatment to regain strength and remove pain, or simply to help with common body fatigue to decrease tension. Some of her favorite treatments include releasing restricted quadriceps and hip flexors, pregnancy-related aches and pains as well as treating clients with temporomandibular joint complaints. TECHNIQUE STYLE
Yvonne has continued studying the fascial chains within the body to treat and release myofascial restrictions. A treatment that involves manipulation of the fascia can help to decrease pain and increase movement throughout the body. She also incorporates Swedish massage techniques to ensure that all areas of tension are addressed. PRENATAL MASSAGE
Another area where Yvonne has continued to focus her practice is in perinatal massage. She has completed multiple courses since 2015 to broaden her skills to safely assess, treat and provide home-care for all stages of pregnancy as well as postpartum. Yvonne is also a Doula/Labor Support provider. She has completed specialized training designed for massage therapists’ to ensure she can safely support parents through the labour and birth process.
