Invisible wounds can form when people are placed in situations that clash with their deeply held values. When someone is repeatedly forced to act, witness, or remain silent in ways that conflict with their sense of right and wrong, the emotional toll can be profound. These experiences are increasingly being recognized across professions such as healthcare, law enforcement, public service, and other high-stakes environments where ethical dilemmas are part of the job. ๐ง ๐
Although moral injury itself is not classified as a mental illness, it is closely linked with conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma responses, substance use, and suicidal thoughts when left unaddressed.
