Meal planning is something I rely on weekly to help me stay on track (and mostly sane πŸ˜…).
Today was one of those days where I was unprepared and pushed myself a little too far between meals.

That is a recipe for disaster because when I am hungry, I get hangry and I need to eat NOW! Just ask my wife 🀣.

The thing about pushing yourself too long between meals is this.....

1) The choices you make are quick, and there is nothing quicker than a drive through (am I right?) These options are high fat, extremely processed and lacking very important nutrients. They feed your belly and your taste buds but do absolutely nothing for your body, energy or focus.

2) You are more likely to overeat! Over eating can lead to storing fat, energy crashes and get this......cravings for sugar, carbs and junk foods (especially late at night).

3) Your mood can be affected and productivity will begin to decline. Food is fuel, and I absolutely teach this to my clients. The very purpose of us eating is to provide our bodies with the energy it requires to function and thrive. This is why food choices, quantity and consistency are so important to healthy eating habits!

So despite my lack of preparation, I made the smart decision to swing by Smith's and pick up this delicious salad with Chicken. Just look at those food groups... and the dressing was to die forπŸ˜‹
My last tid-bit of information on this post when choosing a salad.....make sure you have protein! It will help to keep you full longer and is necessary for so many processes in the body!

Anyways, thats my story for today. Does anyone else struggle when they are not prepared for meals??

I was scrolling tik tok the other day and came across this super neat recipe idea. Of course it needed a little tweaking, but that is my favorite part of cooking.

I decided to balance the recipe and give it a try for brunch. What a delicious concept.

I tried it with a pumpernickel bagel and added the eggs with some peppers, red onion, green onion, cheddar cheese and bacon.

I served it with a side fruit salad and wowza!
Now to write it all out and complete the nutritional profile so that I can share it with my amazing clients ☺

And who said eating healthy had to be boring?!

Today I decided to work on some yummy recipes that fit wonderfully into our new portion system. This plate corresponds to my personal body composition, so portions will change depending on which plate you are using.

This Taco salad has all of our essential macro nutrients and is packed with a whole lot flavour!!

Here you will find ground chicken, lentils (however you can use any starch you like) romaine lettuce with red onion, chopped tomatoes, cheddar cheese and my homemade taco salad dressing. It consists of Greek yogurt, some lime juice, salsa, fresh garlic, avocado, chili powder and a dash of salt & pepper.

This meal was satisfying and perfectly balanced to ensure proper digestion and a whole lot of satisfaction!

Happy Monday Everyone!!! I've taken a bit of a hiatus from social media as many new projects have been in the works, but none the less I am back!!

I don't teach restriction or dieting, I teach balance and healthy habits. I don't teach fitting the mold, I advocate self love and goals that are healthy for you! Your journey with me is all about self discovery, support, motivation and empowering you to rediscover your best self!

No matter where you are currently in your journey to health & wellness, remember that your goal is not perfection, it's all about progress!

It is important to note that while eating well and staying active are both wonderful goals, sometimes you have to iron out the nutrition before you can reap the benefits of the physical activity.
