These are the announcements I love to read and yet seldom hear of … research into the body’s natural mechanisms of healing and regeneration. Although fasting should be done with care, especially for the novice, we can no longer deny its benefits 😁😁😁
In 2016, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, a Japanese biologist, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for uncovering one of the body’s most extraordinary biological repair mechanisms — autophagy, which literally means “self-eating.” Ohsumi’s research showed that when the body experiences fasting or cellular stress, it activates a recycling system where cells break down and remove damaged components, then reuse those materials for energy and renewal.
This process not only keeps cells healthy but also plays a key role in slowing aging, preventing cancer, and protecting against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
His discovery fundamentally changed how science views fasting, nutrition, and longevity. It revealed that hunger isn’t just deprivation — it’s a trigger for one of nature’s most powerful detox systems. Through autophagy, the body cleans itself, heals itself, and optimizes its performance from within — a natural miracle hiding in plain sight.
