Sudbury law firm sets up Carol DiSalle Education Fund
It will help train healthcare workers who specialize in acute brain injury care.
A Sudbury law firm has established a fund in honour of a woman who dedicated her career to supporting patients and families affected by brain injury across northeastern Ontario.
Oatley Vigmond Personal Injury Lawyers LLP has pledged $25,000 to establish the Carol DiSalle Education Fund in memory of a beloved colleague, mentor, and friend.
Health Sciences North and the HSN Foundation announced the gift.
Carol DiSalle served as the Sudbury hospital’s Regional Acute Brain Injury Resource Clinician for 25 years. “Known for her compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to care, Carol made a lasting impact on countless lives,” said a release announcing the fund. “She passed away in 2023 at the age of 50 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy, education, and excellence in healthcare.
Oatley Vigmond said it is a firm with a long-standing commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by brain and spinal injuries, and “had the privilege of working alongside Carol. In recognition of her dedication, the firm has committed $25,000 over five years to establish the Carol DiSalle Education Fund.”
“In recognition of Carol’s devotion to lifelong learning, we proudly launch the Carol DiSalle Education Fund,” said Jim Vigmond, a partner at Oatley Vigmond. “It will support healthcare workers in their pursuit of growth and excellence in care. Her passion for education will live on through the opportunities this fund provides for generations to come.”
The fund will support professional development in acute brain injury care, providing healthcare providers with access to advanced training, knowledge-sharing, and skill-building opportunities. These initiatives will strengthen care for patients and families across Northeastern Ontario and beyond, advancing best practices in acute brain injury care throughout the region.
“This gift is a powerful example of philanthropy creating lasting impact,” said Anthony Keating, President and CEO of the HSN Foundation. “By establishing the Carol DiSalle Education Fund, Oatley Vigmond is ensuring Carol’s passion for education continues to strengthen brain injury care in northeastern Ontario, improving the lives of patients and families for years to come.”
