At CMHA WW, we acknowledge that reconciliation is not a destination but a continuous process. And we recognize the importance of mental health in the reconciliation process. Our programs strive to provide accessible, culturally sensitive support for all individuals, including Indigenous communities. By working collaboratively with partners and listening to the voices of Survivors, we aim to contribute to healing and wellness in ways that honour the 94 Calls to Action.
Some of the actions we have taken to date include hiring for the role of Indigenous Mental Health & Justice Support Coordinator; ongoing connection, collaboration and presence at Crow Shield Lodge including a recent visit by SLT and the Board; availability of the Caring for Indigenous Older Adults e-module; commemoration of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, and development of an anti-racism policy with emphasis on anti-Indigenous racism and anti-Black racism (still in the early stages of development).
It’s the 10th Anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report and 94 Calls to Action.
Today, 85% of the 76 Calls to Action directed at the federal government are now completed or well underway!
