Someone needs this little extra sunshine today.🌻🌝

Things may feel hard right now. Almost impossible. Maybe you’re feeling all kinds of difficult feelings you wish you didn’t have. Maybe you’re facing something you feel ill equipped to handle.
Maybe you’re hurt, angry or afraid.
Things might even get worse before they can get better.

But I’m here and you’re here and I want to remind you something you already know:
✨YES you can do this.
✨YES you can take one MASSIVE next breath, and one TINY next step.
✨YES solutions and support surround you.
✨YES this too will pass.

Sometimes the biggest blocks get broken down by the tiniest choices and empowered changes, rather than through exhausting battles.

Sometimes it’s a change of direction of where the eyes of your heart are looking. Sometimes it’s a big glass of water and a little dance in your kitchen. Sometimes it’s a little self permission to simply “be” here now, in the moment and not to “do” anything in particular. Sometimes it’s going to bed early and sleeping on it. Sometimes it’s a choice to suspend judgment and source compassion.

If you’re facing something hard right now, know you’re not alone. (And you’re definitely not crazy!) We are stronger together and this is a safe place to simply “be” the truth of who you are and how you’re feeling. Your well-being as a whole person is our primary focus, joy and passion.

Grayson fell asleep breastfeeding, holding a wooden spoon in his hand. He’s a real “tools” kinds of guy but it made me realize that to him (to us) the Breast is so much more than its anatomic role as an eating utensil and is so much more than a way to meet his caloric needs.

It’s World Breastfeeding Week so I wanted to share not only fun facts, like did you know...
✅It takes 225 calories consumed by mom to make 175 calories’ worth of breast milk
✅Breastmilk is a source of breaking and skin-nourishing omega 3s if mom eats/supplements plenty of these (seeds, fish, fish oils)
✅Breastfeeding supports optimal eye and jaw development for babies..
..But also from my personal experience of breastfeeding being a (usually) amazing, wonderful life experience. I’m fortunate that my breastfeeding journey has been almost entirely positive. My milk came in on our second night (thank you tea!), he’s made excellent gains and growth, he relaxes and falls asleep in my arms or by my side in bed it is the most heavenly thing and I cherish this incredible time we share.
Not everyone chooses to breastfeed and many moms find it incredibly hard, and have to integrate other ways to nurture their babies. I see you and extend so much compassion for you mamas, in all the ways you’re doing your best for you and your child! For any mama who’s struggling I want you to know it’s not your fault, you’re not alone and there are resources to help. In my practice we go over ideas like:
🌿Herbal medicines like hops, blessed thistle, mornings leaf, fenugreek and oats (including in food form) to support supply
💓Self care for mom including eating 3 meals and 1-2 snacks per day (I eat another small meal before bed) and PLENTY of fluids - like more than you think you “should” need, and a little time for herself to relax
💤Sleep - if anything is a panacea it’s sleep, mama. The physical and emotional stress of sleep interruption and deprivation is real, and can directly affect breastmilk supply
🙆‍♀️Protecting birth & postpartum from stress is key to allowing plenty of the breastfeeding/cuddle/pain relief/hug hormone oxytocin to kick in💕💕💕
