Dry, irritated, or watery eyes may be a sign of dry eye disease, a common condition that can affect comfort, vision, and daily life. 👀

At ArtMed, we treat dry eye disease using BBL™ (BroadBand Light) therapy, an advanced light-based treatment designed to improve the function of the meibomian glands in the eyelids. These glands, located within the upper and lower eyelid, produce the oils that help keep the tear film stable.

During treatment, BBL™ gently heats the area to warm the glands and help soften the oil inside them. This allows the oil to flow more freely to the surface of the eye, helping to unblock the glands and improve tear quality.

You’ll notice that we treat the entire under-eye and cheek area as well. Warming the surrounding tissue helps raise the overall temperature of the area, which further supports the glands and improves circulation around the eyes — an added benefit for the health of the delicate eye region.
