Aly Hodgins (Physiotherapist at HPC) recently returned from Santiago, Chile, where she supported Cycling Canada's Track Cycling program at the World Championships.⁠

As team physiotherapist and lead therapist, she also provided soigneur services, from managing race-day nutrition and recovery strategies to helping athletes stay cool in the velodrome and accompanying them to the start line and meeting them at the finish. ⁠

🥍🥉Gryphons Women's Lacrosse Earns OUA Bronze | Supported by Lisa Wedel (Physiotherapist at HPC) ⁠

Throughout the entire season, the team was supported by a dedicated group of support staff, including HPC’s own physiotherapist Lisa Wedel and two student athletic trainers (seen pictured with Lisa in the first slide). ⁠

For the first time since 2013, the Gryphons are back on the OUA podium! On Sunday at Laurier, they secured bronze with a 10–8 win over the Golden Hawks at the 2025 Championship.⁠

Cyndy McLean, founder of the Health and Performance Centre (HPC), is being recognized with an honorary degree from the University of Guelph in celebration of her extraordinary contributions to the campus and the wider Guelph community. Through her unwavering advocacy for individuals living with disabilities, Cyndy has created lasting change and inspired countless others.

Defining Chapters of Cyndy McLean's Story
Founder of HPC: Successful launched the Health and Performance Centre in 1998 as a hub for health, wellness, and student learning which supports the campus and Guelph community today

Resilience After Injury: Survived a life-changing spinal cord injury in 2003 and returned to work full-time within a year, continuing to lead and inspire

National Advocacy: Served as a national ambassador for the Rick Hansen Foundation for 10 years, advocating for those living with disabilities and leading initiatives like “Day in a Wheelchair,” which resulted in immediate accessibility improvements on campus

U of G: Academic Contributions: Guest lectured on spinal cord injuries, contributed to research in human biology and nutrition while receiving her Master's, and supported student learning through mentorship

Elite Athlete: Competed in wheelchair tennis at a professional and international level, including five years on the national team

Fundraising for Cancer Care: Raised $62,000 for new chemotherapy chairs at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre through her initiative “10x21: Cycling 4 Chemo Chairs,” handcycling across communities to support patients undergoing treatment

Legacy of Connection: Continued to engage with the university after retirement in 2012, attending events and inspiring future generations

Her tireless dedication and remarkable resilience have turned personal and systemic challenges into powerful platforms for progress. With grace and determination, she has championed inclusivity, accessibility, and equity, leaving a memorable mark on the lives of many.

Dr. Robert Winslow (Chiropractor at HPC), supported Team Canada at the World Para Athletics Championship from Dubai to Delhi! 🇦🇪➡️🇮🇳⁠

25 incredible athletes, 9 medals, and countless moments of collaboration and learning at the World Para Athletics Championships.⁠

This trip was an extension of his work with Athletics Canada’s East Hub, helping athletes thrive in their daily training environments.⁠

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with coaches and health care practitioners from across the country! 🏅🌍⁠
