e. Athletic Therapists work both on-field and in clinical settings. Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. Kristina’s approach to massage therapy does not always include the traditional sheets and pillows method, and uses an active, client directed and focused approach to healing including manual therapy and remedial exercise. Don’t have Athletic Therapy benefits, but interested in the cross over between RMT and AT?

Something exciting is coming to Synergy Sport Therapy
Austin is currently deep in the books studying Muscle Activation Techniques, and we cannot wait to add this to our toolbox.

MAT is a highly specialized approach that identifies and corrects muscle inhibition. tThose muscles that have essentially “checked out” and left others to pick up the slack. The result? Better stability, less compensation, and more resilient movement.
Stay tuned - this one is going to be a game changer for our athletes and clients. 💪

Because function is more important than structure.

Just because a frenulum looks tight doesn’t automatically mean it needs to be released.

Here’s why we might not refer for a release:

✨ The tongue is functioning well (feeding, speech, breathing, swallowing, sleep are not impacted)

✨ Symptoms are minimal or improving

✨ Other dysfunctions need to be addressed first

And even when there are symptoms…

We can often make significant improvements with:

✨ Body work

✨ Mobility work

✨ Targeted exercises

✨ Improving coordination and strength

✨ A collaborative approach

Many issues resolve with less invasive intervention first.

A tongue tie is a structural finding.

But we treat people, not just anatomy.

Sometimes the best plan is:

✔️ Support function

✔️ Build capacity

✔️ Improve coordination

✔️ Reassess

Release is a tool - not a default.

I’m biased when I say Athletic Therapist are cool in their skill set. But really, we are kinda neat.

ATs learn about human movement with similar knowledge to Kinesiologists, and then they dive deep into injury assessment, management and rehabilitation.

Unlike other manual therapy professions, an AT directly out of school has worked with hundreds of athletes on and off the field. We are highly skilled in in field assessment and emergency management.
In the clinic ATs are trained to look at the whole human, not just the area of concern or injury. We will address how the whole system is influenced by the injury and how weakness or imbalances in other areas have contributed to the injury. Athletic Therapy aims at finding the cause and treating the whole person.

Athletic Therapists are experts in injury prevention and rapid rehabilitation of your muscles, bones and joints.

The first 6 months after a c-section are foundational in your recovery.

But, it’s never too late to start!

The first 6 months post c-section are the most impactful on the quality and appearance of your scar, but there is so much we can do months and even years later. Scars continue to evolve overtime and our approach can change as well. Hands on, acupuncture and electrical stim can help in the early days, but are also impactful past the 6 month mark.
