On a wintery snow day, our LTC residents gathered for Crafty Corner Club and turned yarn into beautiful snowflakes ❄️

With hands busy and minds focused, everyone enjoyed the calm rhythm of creating, sharing conversation, and spending time together. The room was filled with quiet concentration, smiles, and a whole lot of fun as each snowflake came to life — no two the same, just like the artists who made them.

A perfect way to spend a snowy day indoors, staying warm, creative, and connected.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful paint class with special guest Niha, spending the afternoon painting bright, beautiful tulips 🌷

With brushes in hand, the group focused on learning new techniques, exploring colour, and expressing their creativity. It was a lovely reminder that learning never stops, and there’s always room to grow, create, and try something new.

We wrapped up our Winter Olympics Week at the Village with a beautiful final day full of celebration and pride. The morning began with our figure skating event at 10:00 am, where residents showed grace, creativity, and plenty of determination, all while being cheered on by friends from every neighborhood.

The afternoon brought our Closing Ceremonies, with medals and participation awards handed out to honour not just the wins, but the teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship shown all week long. It was a joyful celebration of trying new things, supporting one another, and making lasting memories together.

Snowboarding and curling brought all the fun to our Winter Olympics Week. From big cheers and laughter to steady hands and surprise victories, these events were full of great memories. Residents teamed up, encouraged one another, and embraced a little friendly competition along the way. It wasn’t just about the scores—it was about teamwork, trying something new, and sharing plenty of smiles together.

We kicked off Winter Olympics Week at the Village with our Opening Ceremonies, welcoming competitors from each neighborhood as they gathered to show off their skills, cheer each other on, and celebrate some friendly competition. It’s a full week of fun, movement, and community spirit ahead.

One of our incredible nursing team members recently shared her creative talents in our Crafty Corner, teaching residents how to make beautiful paper snowflakes, flowers, and more. It was a wonderful afternoon of creativity, learning, and connection—proof that talents are meant to be shared. Smiles, laughter, and paper creations filled the room as residents proudly showed off their handiwork.

Residents are gearing up and practicing for our scheduled Winter Olympics at the Village. From hockey shoot and curling to triathlon training, ski jump, and snowboarding, there have been lots of laughs, friendly competition, and excitement as everyone gets ready to compete.

The Village Winter Olympics will take place January 12–16, so stay tuned for events happening all next week. The fun doesn’t stop there — our winners will enjoy a full day in February competing against other villages from across Ontario.

January 5th we celebrated National Bird Day in our Bird Link, a space filled with beautiful bird carvings and paintings created by our very own residents. With live budgies, outdoor bird feeders, a live camera feed from Cornell University, interactive stations focused on local Ontario birds, and warm mugs of hot cider, there was so much to see and explore.

Hosted by residents Rea and Norah, this wonderful large group gathering was full of eager learners, meaningful conversations, fond reminiscing, and a shared love of birds. The celebration also included a special raffle, with a carved and hand-painted bird going home with one very lucky winner. A truly special day of learning, connection, and celebration 🐦🍎

We welcomed 2026 with warm hearts and big smiles at the Village of Riverside Glen!

With winter weather keeping us cozy indoors, residents, family, and friends came together to enjoy fun activities happening throughout the village. From laughter and great company to creative moments in Art Club ; where residents worked on beautiful Canadian-inspired artwork - there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was a wonderful way to ring in the new year, surrounded by creativity, connection, and community spirit. Here’s to another year filled with joy, friendship, and meaningful moments at Riverside Glen!
