Cooper Funeral Home

Cooper Funeral Home Cooper Funeral Home is family-owned and operated, serving Jarvis area families for nearly 50 years.

In 1974, Martyn and Brenda Cooper moved to 1 Dennis Street in Jarvis. The plan was to open a funeral home on the upper level while turning the basement apartments into living quarters. In June of that same year, Cooper Funeral Home opened to serve the community. Over 30 years later, Martyn and Brenda’s eldest son Ian became a partner in the family business. He is committed to maintaining the fine reputation earned by his father. As was the case in 1974 and still is today, our motto is: "Serving You As We Would Be Served."

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Gracie on April 9, 2026, peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital in his 90th year. Gordy will be remembered by his family and friends from Canada and Scotland. He leaves behind his children Janice (Raymond), Shirley, and Stephen (Nuala), as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, with Baby Biondi on the way. Gordy was predeceased by his loving wife, Jeanette.

Gordy was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1937, and brought his family to Canada for a better life, also to be with his sister Isabel and brother Robert.

The family would like to thank the staff at Leisure Living and the caring staff at Norfolk General Hospital.

Gordy's family will always remember Dad/Papa’s great sense of humor and conversations around the diner table. Celebration of Life to take place at a later date. Family and friends will be notified.
