With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Imogene Pettau (née Pinder) on January 14, 2026, at the Temiskaming Lodge at the age of 90.

Imogene was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Walter Pettau; her son, Allen Pettau; her parents, John Pinder and Evelynn Corteville Pinder (née Tucker); her sisters, Madeline Seaman, Ruth Breault, and Betty Engelman; and her brother, George Zecklin. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Morissette (Peter) and Susan Cambridge (Tom); her son, Richard Pettau; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Pettau; her grandchildren, Nikki, Lexi, Jillian, Chantal, Katy, Ben, Stephanie, James, Karlee, Melissa, and Tyler; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was born on March 20, 1935, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and in 1946 moved to Brethour Township with her parents, John and Evelyn Pinder. While living in Brethour Township, she met her future husband, Walter Pettau, whom she married on July 4, 1953. Together, Imogene and Walter went on to raise their family of four children in the Brethour Township and Temiskaming Shores area.

Imogene stayed home with her children until 1970, when she began working at the Haileybury Motel and later retired from Bargain Harolds in 1995. She was involved with the Haileybury Figure Skating Club in the 1970s and volunteered with the United Church in Haileybury and New Liskeard. Both Imogene and Walter were members of the Young at Hearts Senior Club that met regularly at the Hudson Hall.

Imogene took every opportunity to be outdoors—gardening or looking after yard work, walking, picking berries, swimming, paddle boating, or simply sitting by the fire. She also had a passion for knitting, sewing, reading, bowling, and listening to music. Imogene and Walter both loved to travel and toured many areas across Canada and the United States, always looking forward to their winter visits to Florida after their retirement.

Imogene had a deep love for her grandchildren and was always sure to make time for them. They shared many special moments swimming, walking, playing board games and cards, and roasting marshmallows around the fire. She watched over them with a quiet pride, and her loving, steady presence at their life events, celebrations, and milestones will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Temiskaming Lodge for the care and comfort they provided during Imogene's last few years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, 251 Shepherdson Road, New Liskeard, followed by a light lunch and visit with family.

Cecile Willars (née Lanthier) slipped away peacefully on New Year's Eve at the Temiskaming Lodge after an extended but feisty battle with a disease that slowly robbed her of her memory along with her bright, positive, gentle personality and spirit. She was 88 years of age.

Cecile was born in North Cobalt on May 4, 1937, the third youngest of Rosetta and Hormisdas Lanthier's eight children, all of whom predeceased her. They were: Edward Lanthier (Isobel), Dorothy Desjardins (Horace), Louis Lanthier (Doreen), Lillianne Tremblay (George), Therese Ducharme (Rolly), Michael Lanthier (Carole), and Paul Lanthier.

Cecile was predeceased by her husband, Jack Willars, who sadly passed away in 1984.

Aunt Cecile's extended Lanthier clan family was, not surprisingly, a rather large one. She is survived by her sister‑in‑law, Carole Lanthier, and by nieces and nephews: Debbie MacNamara, Patricia Desjardins‑Perron, Pierre Desjardins, Jacques Desjardins, Marc Desjardins, David Lanthier, Randall Lanthier, Louise Vallee, Monique McCann, Vivianne Lecompte, Marc Tremblay, Guy Ducharme, Denis Ducharme, Richard Ducharme, Paul Ducharme, Christopher Lanthier, Derek Lanthier, and Paul Lanthier. She was predeceased by her nephews: Edward's son, Robert Lanthier; Dorothy's sons, Paul and Donald Desjardins; and Lillianne's son, Michael Tremblay.

Cecile was born and raised in North Cobalt and, for most of her career, worked for the Ministry of Transportation. Upon her dad's passing in 1968, Cecile was a devoted companion and caregiver for Mom Rosetta until she passed away in 1987. Family members remember fondly how she kept up the North Cobalt Birch Street homestead throughout their respective childhood years, hosting the many yearly raucous Lanthier gatherings, and how she faithfully drove Grandpa's old car, nicknamed "Esmerelda," for years afterward. Later in life, while playing badminton, Cecile found love when she met and subsequently married Jack Willars in 1978. Jack was a well‑known Temiskaming‑area geologist and mining engineer. They travelled often, both at home and abroad, and enjoyed a busy social life. She continued her badminton, took up skiing (and later quilting), and bravely endured Jack's bagpipes. Sadly, Jack left her far too soon, but Cecile continued to lead a busy and enriched life in New Liskeard. As one of the "Merry Widows," residing with her sister Dorothy, Cecile continued travelling, often visiting her sister‑in‑law Doreen, and spent time with her many friends and family.

For many years, Aunt Cecile was the glue that held the extended Lanthier family together and helped maintain connections with and between her siblings, brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law, nieces and nephews, and their children. She kept us updated between milestones of marriages, births, celebrations, and funerals. Cecile was steadfastly independent, a reliable friend, and possessed a wicked sense of humour and a love of life. Aunt Cecile always demonstrated the very best of the reserved, happy, gentle, practical, personable, quiet charm and character possessed by all Rosetta and Hormisdas' children. She will be proudly remembered and fondly missed by all her nieces and nephews and their children.

In accordance with Cecile's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service, but Mass will be celebrated at Paroisse Sacré‑Cœur at a time to be announced. She will be privately interred near her brother Paul and her mother and father in the North Cobalt Catholic Cemetery.
Donations in Cecile's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay and Districts online at https://alzheimer.ca/sudburymanitoulin/en/take-action/donate or cheques can me mailed to Alzheimer's Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay and Districts, 960B Notre Dame Ave, Sudbury, ON P3A 2T7.

Cecile's care has been entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, Condolences and tributes can be shared at www.buffamleveille.com.

Maurice had a true love for the great outdoors. Whether fishing, canoeing, or sitting by a warm campfire, he found peace and joy in nature. Known as a jack of all trades, he had an uncanny ability to fix just about anything—if Maurice couldn't repair it, no one could. Above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. He had a heart of gold and consistently put the needs of others before his own. Maurice was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His infectious smile and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Maurice is predeceased by his parents, by his first wife Lyse Boucher (nee Authier), his granddaughter Hailey Woods and by his sister Helene Boucher.

Rollie passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Lodge on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, at the age of 84 years surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves behind her son Kevin, daughter in law Kimberly, her Pride and Joy grandchildren Zachery (Jessica), Jacob (Ella), and Kirsten (Ethan). Rollie was predeceased by the love of her life James, son Timothy, grandson Nolan, father Arthur, mother Anna, brother Peter and sister Priscille.

Rollie was the beloved matriarch of the Murphy family, dedicating her heart and soul to those she cherished most. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she took immense pride in the accomplishments of her two sons throughout the years. When her daughter-in-law Kimberly joined the family, Rollie quickly formed a deep, inseparable bond with her—one built on mutual love, respect, and friendship. Their many spontaneous out-of-town shopping trips became treasured moments that will forever remain close to their hearts. Rollie's legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come.

Known lovingly to her grandchildren as "Nana," Rollie embraced early retirement so she could devote her time to helping Kevin and Kim raise their children. During those cherished years, she created countless lasting memories for "The Brats," always encouraging them to strive for excellence and to live with respect and purpose—values she held paramount. The grandchildren took every chance to "put one past " Nana, yet she met each attempt with wit and good-natured humour, always making it clear who was truly in charge. Nana was their greatest supporter, faithfully attending their sporting events and school activities, cheering them on from the sidelines. She spoke proudly of their achievements at every opportunity, celebrating each milestone with heartfelt joy and unwavering love.

Nana's influence on her grandchildren was deeply reflected in her granddaughter Kirsten, who proudly followed in her footsteps by pursuing a career in nursing and becoming a Registered Nurse. Their bond was unmistakable. Kirsten spent countless hours by her Nana's side at the Temiskaming Lodge, offering the same compassion and dedication that Nana had once shown her own patients. Long before Nana's illness, the two were inseparable, often spending entire days together perfecting their famously delicious homemade pizza—earning them the affectionate title of "two peas in a pod." Their connection was one of shared laughter, love, and mutual admiration, and it remains one of the most cherished legacies Nana leaves behind.

Rollie proudly served as a dedicated nurse at Temiskaming Hospital for 25 years, where she forged lifelong friendships with the colleagues who quickly became her second family. Her sharp wit and spicy sense of humour often transformed even the toughest shifts into memorable ones, all while she delivered exceptional care to every patient who crossed her path. Rollie had a remarkable ability to lighten the mood, whether through a perfectly timed quip or one of the many comical rhymes she and her coworkers invented to survive those long days on the floor. Rollie recited the same rhymes to the staff at the Temiskaming Lodge, who quickly learned that when Rollie started a line, laughter was never far behind. Her humour, warmth, and unwavering dedication remain cherished gifts to all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

The Murphy family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff at the Temiskaming Lodge who took the time to visit Rollie during her last days. It was incredible to witness the impact she had on the people who provided her with excellent heath care over the past four years at the Lodge. You made Rollie's stay the closest thing to home for her while providing her love and friendship……."Roses will be roses."

Rollie's final care has been entrusted to the Buffam Leveille funeral home. Interment and celebration of life will take place at a future date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Temiskaming Hospital [421 Shepherdson Rd, Temiskaming Shores, ON P0J 1P0]. Condolences and tributes can be shared at www.buffamleveille.com
