Halifax Osteopathic Health Centre

Halifax Osteopathic Health Centre The Halifax Osteopathic Health Centre offers a unique integrative client-centered model of care that We emphasize education and self management.

At the Halifax Health Centre we offer a multidisciplinary approach to health care that includes osteopathy, physiotherapy, massage therapy, rehapPilates and acupuncture. Our experienced health practitioners provide treatments that combine conventional western therapies with appropriate complimentary therapies. Although our clinic has a strong osteopathic base, we feel no one therapy can provide all the answers and by combining different therapy approaches we can collaborate to provide you with more efficient and effective treatments. Our goal is to help you maximize your health, well-being and mobility by addressing and treating the cause of the problem rather than just the symptoms. We strive to treat the causes of your pain, provide rehabilitation and help restore maximum function in order to prevent a recurrence. We have a special interest in treating persons with multiple areas of chronic pain and dysfunction and children.

Our osteopathic practitioner Angela is back from vacation this week. She sent us these beautiful photos from her trip and we are trying not to be jealous!

Angela is officially back to work tomorrow, she has a busy schedule to come back to but we have been having lots of cancellations due to illness (thank you for keeping us healthy!) so don’t be shy to call in to see if you can get in for a treatment.

Experiencing dizziness?

If you've been checked out by your doctor or other treatments aren't helping (or effects aren't lasting); you can consider osteopathic treatment!

In the review paper that was recently published and co-authored by OMT Hannah Ferguson - there is moderate-quality evidence that osteopathy effectively reduces disability associated with dizziness, dizziness severity, and dizziness frequency.

These improved outcomes will likely also help with the quality of life; decrease psychological stress, medication use, and mobility restriction; as well as reduce perceptions of dizziness and disability!

It was Peter and Kathryn’s first day at the office on Friday! They are both excited to be back practicing and had a great time meeting new patients.

For now, they are available at HOHC on Fridays to help patients with foot care.

A big congratulations to HOHCs Osteopathic practitioner Hannah Ferguson for having research published in the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine!

Osteopathy is still in its infancy of research so it is a huge accomplishment to get research published. Her review paper was done in coordination with the the CAO (Canadian Academy of Osteopathy) and ATSU (Andrew Taylor Still University in the US) where they gathered all the osteopathic studies they could find that looked into whether osteopathy can help with some cases of dizziness. The short answer is YES! You can find the article online, we will post a link on our website in the coming days.
