Class reminder‼️ Although for many tomorrow is a holiday we will still be gathering for class in the new space at LeMarchant St Thomas School Field at 6:30pm for our long awaited first class of the season.
As always this class is open to all levels and abilities and pay what you can. Please bring whatever props you’d like to be supported in your practice (mat, blocks, bolsters, chair, strap etc), and your water bottle. The space is accessible either directly through the jubilee street entrance (pictured in the second photo) or via Watt street.
Please bring exact cash to drop in the jar or you can etransfer lindsayeumlah@gmail.com including yoga & the date of class in the message section.
Whether you’re coming to class tomorrow or not I do encourage you to take some time for reflection around this holiday and the history that built this country we call home. The reality that we’re so often encouraged to forget or bypass is that we are on stolen land. A country built on genocide and violence that although different still continues today. Ahimsa, non-violence is the first Yama, the first limb of 8 in yoga. Part of this practice is also acknowledging the ways we participate or benefit from harm and actively showing up in opposition to it. For many that begins with opening our eyes to what’s been in front of us all along and too easily missed for those of us with privilege. Stretching our perception of our world by listening deeply to Indigenous peoples and other marginalized and oppressed groups as we acknowledge ways we have been complicit and also exacerbated harm. In the same way we use breath and presence in the discomfort of certain asana we can use those principals to sit in our own discomfort of shame/guilt so we can actively show up and proactively practice Ahimsa.
