Let’s take you behind the scenes, aka inside our lab! 🎥

In this video clip our Lab Director, Dr. Dufton, answers a common question: how big are our ICSI needles?

Spoiler alert: they’re much smaller than a typical butterfly needle used for blood collection. In fact, they’re less than ⅓ the width of a human hair. 😯

Swipe to see a close-up of a beautiful, high-grade embryo. 👉

If you’re going through IVF, you might hear your care team talk about embryo grading. Grading is used to rank the physical appearance of embryos.

🔹 Day 3 (cleavage stage): We look at size, shape, symmetry, and if there’s any fragmentation.

🔹 Day 5 (blastocyst stage): We check how expanded it is, plus the inner cell mass (the future baby) and the trophectoderm (the future placenta).

But embryo grading is just one piece of the puzzle. Embryos with lower grades lead to healthy pregnancies, because factors like age and health history matter, too.

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic S***m Injection) is an advanced IVF technique where a single s***m is injected directly into a mature egg. It’s often recommended for male factor infertility, previously frozen s***m or eggs, or when previous fertilization attempts haven’t been successful.

At Atlantic Fertility, our skilled embryology team performs ICSI with precision and care, helping maximize the chances of successful fertilization and healthy embryo development.

Wondering if ICSI is right for your journey? Our team is here to answer all your questions and guide you. Stay tuned for a video of ICSI coming soon!
