Independent Living Nova Scotia

Independent Living Nova Scotia ILNS runs the only IL Resource Centre in Nova Scotia. Be respectful of others. Access to Social media platforms is a privilege and not a right.

We are a registered charity supporting persons with disabilities to make informed choices about how they want to live their lives through programs and services that promote Independent Living. Social Media Public Policy

Independent Living Nova Scotia, ILNS, encourages all members of the public to contribute to the vibrant, dynamic, and interactive spirit of our online social media community

Our goal is to provide an online community where people with all kinds of views, theories, and concerns can express themselves, can share information, and can interact with one another in a safe, respectful manner. Comments, posts, messages and creative content are welcome, providing they are in keeping with our mission, vision, service values and policies. Contributors and their contributions must comply with and not violate our Policies, Terms of Use and Rules of Conduct. We want all people who visit us to have a good experience when they are here. Anything that supports this aim is encouraged. ILNS may edit or remove inappropriate or off-topic comments at any time. Keep your comments on topic. Protect Your Privacy. Comments on social media are visible to the general public. Protect your privacy and don’t give out personal information such as email addresses, telephone numbers or street addresses. Doing so may make you susceptible to spam and unauthorized communication. Links to Other Web Sites. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our Lunenburg Community Voices Survey. We received incredible feedback from the community, and we truly appreciate you sharing your experiences, ideas, and perspectives with us. 🩵
Your responses will help us understand what supports are working well, where barriers exist, and what additional supports or changes are needed. The information gathered will guide community-led planning and the development of more responsive, inclusive, and accessible supports.

As a reminder, we will be drawing the names for the gift card winners on Tuesday—stay tuned!🎉

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day. I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible women who are part of the Independent Living Nova Scotia (ILNS) community - our staff, board members, peers, advocates, and the many women with disabilities who continue to lead, challenge systems, and shape stronger, more inclusive communities. Every day I see the compassion, strength, leadership, and determination that women bring to this work. Whether supporting independent living, advocating for rights and inclusion, or standing alongside others on their journey toward greater independence - your contributions matter and they make a real difference. I am grateful to work alongside so many inspiring women who are committed to building a world where everyone can live with dignity, choice, and opportunity.

Today we celebrate you and the impact you make in our community and beyond!

Happy International Women’s Day!
