March is National Tick Awareness Month! 🦠

Contrary to popular belief, there’s no true “off-season” for ticks in Nova Scotia. With our ever-changing weather, ticks may not be active every single day but they are active year-round ❄️☀️

The good news? There are several effective tick prevention options to help protect your pets. Talk to your veterinarian about the best option to keep your pet protected year-round 🐾

Drs. Karyn Steele and Kathryn Butler (missing from the picture Dr. Vanessa Ge**er) were recognized in the Legislature at Province House for their contribution to animal health care in Nova Scotia.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

Today, as we celebrate the incredible contributions of women in our community, I want to highlight three local leaders who are transforming pet healthcare in Nova Scotia: Dr. Karyn Steele, Dr. Kathryn Butler, and Dr. Vanessa Ge**er.

Last week in the Legislature, I was honored to rise and recognize their business, AprilVets Dartmouth Crossing🐾. Since opening their doors in Dartmouth Crossing just over a year ago, these women have set a new standard for veterinary care with a state-of-the-art hospital and a unique co-ownership model that empowers local vets.

A special shout-out to Karyn and Kathryn, who are proud residents of Hammonds Plains! It was a pleasure to catch up with them recently (pictured here) and hear more about their dedication to animal welfare.

When we support women-owned small businesses, our entire community grows stronger. Please join me in congratulating Karyn, Kathryn, and Vanessa on their successful venture and their commitment to keeping our furry family members healthy!

AprilVets Dartmouth Crossing is celebrating Dental Health Month with something a little extra fun, a Pop-Up Dental Clinic on February 28th!🐾🦷

From 10am-1pm, bring your pet by for a quick drop-in dental assessment with one of our staff. We’ll take a peek at their teeth, check for tartar and signs of gingivitis, and chat with you about what we’re seeing and what options might help keep that smile healthy.
