A few years ago I made a decision to start each New Year with a word, an intention so to speak to live the year by.

This year my word is TRUST. I am going to consciously:

TRUST my body… to tell me what it needs and when it needs it. 🦾

TRUST my mind… to know when to challenge it and when to let it rest.🧠

TRUST the process… in my own health journey, in my personal relationships, etc. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

TRUST my professional journey… in the patient’s that walk through my doors, in the knowledge I know and the knowledge I still need to obtain and in each patients individual healing process and the role I play within it. 👩‍⚕️

And ultimately TRUST in the universe. I have a really easy time living in the future, planning my next steps while completely missing out on the present. This year I am going to focus on being more present with my patients, my kids and my family.

I am going to TRUST that by tuning inwards that I will be able to be more present outwards.

This is the year that I am going to TRUST that I am exactly where I need to be personally and professionally and that when it is time for me to advance that the universe will show me. 🌎

Do you choose a word each year? 🧐

Here's an *easy* healthy habit to add to your routine! 🍋

Start your morning with a glass of warm lemon water, this sets your digestion up for the day. It works to “wake up” your digestive enzymes and digestive juices. Your gut will thank you!

Say it louder for the women in the back!

⭐ PCOS is NOT an infertility diagnosis⭐

It is not uncommon for women to walk into my office visibly upset that they have been given the diagnosis of PCOS.

Let's set one thing straight: PCOS is NOT an infertility diagnosis.

Yes, it may very well have an impact on the quality of your eggs but it is something that together we can manage and support so that we can create a positive environment for fertility.

If you feel hopeless, confused, defeated, angry then please know that you are NOT alone. We can teach you how to take care of yourself so that we can increase your chances of pregnancy.

You can start the path to fertility today by doing three simple steps:

1. Start tracking your cycle, your symptoms, your blood flow, etc

2. Start tracking your cervical mucous over the month, note how it changes

3. Take your temperature daily before you get out of bed and keep a record of it.

Reach out…. I am here to help! 👩‍⚕️

The low energy levels that can come with stress may be due to the fact that we become nutrient-depleted and have to work harder to build back our stores when we are stressed.

Stress depletes our bodies key nutrients:
- Magnesium
- Zinc
- Iron
- B vitamins
- Vitamin C

If your stress levels are high and your body is feeling the brunt of it then consider adding these nutrients back into your daily routine to replenish your stores… and don’t forget about finding some time for you to de-stress.

Is it a Yeast Infection or Bacterial Vaginosis?

Today we're talking about the difference between yeast and bacteria.

Here are symptoms of yeast Infections:
- Swollen and red tissue
- Itching
- Thick white discharge (think cottage cheese)
- No odour
- Caused by yeast

Here are symptoms of bacterial vaginosis:
- Tissue appears normal
- Not usually itchy
- Thin grey discharge
- Fishy odour
- Caused by bacteria

Neither the yeast nor the bacteria are bad! They are supposed to be in your va**na.

However, they are opportunistic, meaning that if something in the va**nal terrain shifts then they have the opportunity to overgrow, this is when we see them become problematic.

Your gut health and va**na health are intimately connected. The key to keeping these infections from ever starting in the first place is to look after your gut health.

Your diet can help support your gut microbiome. Try to incorporate the following into your meals daily:

🍎 Fruit: variety and low sugar is key. Aim for apples, berries and pears.

🥦 Vegetables: aim to eat the rainbow daily. The more variety the better.

🍵 Fermented foods: sauerkraut, kimchi, water kefir, kombucha, etc
