The best research shows that you must be an active participant in your care to manage pain and chronic conditions.

What do we mean by active participant in your care?

It means you must learn and implement skills that help you manage your pain/condition when you are not in the room with your healthcare team. Some things to think and ask about are ways to help reduce stress, become more active, eat a little healthier, and sleep better.

You need to be active in your recovery. Ask questions, do your own research, exercise, continue to do your day to day activities, use the advice given to you to empower yourself. Instead of asking 'what can you do to help me recover', ask 'what can I do to help me recover'.
