Before cataract surgery, artist and musician Jim McKnight struggled with blurred vision, forcing him and his wife to change their lifestyle.
“My colours were being affected by the yellow haze cataracts give you, and the glare from headlights at night made it difficult to drive,” said Jim.
Last year, more than 17,700 cataract surgeries were completed across the province. Nova Scotia Health’s partnership with Halifax Vision Surgical Centre enabled nearly 1,000 additional cataract surgeries, helping reduce the provincial waitlist by 28% and providing more patients with timely care.
“I’m back to painting, back to my music and I can drive at night without worry,” Jim said. “It really gave me my life back.”
