Our recreation team goes above and beyond to learn each resident’s interests, abilities, needs, and background, making each activity meaningful and accessible. February was Long Term Care Month for New Brunswick Centres Of Excellence for Health, and Shannex is proud to be a partner in this important work across New Brunswick. 💙

Through this partnership, students are creating meaningful intergenerational connections in our long term care communities — enriching the lives of residents while gaining invaluable hands-on experience.

Residents at Ryan Hall got up bright and early in anticipation of the Olympic men’s hockey matchup between Canada and the United States! Residents, team members, and volunteers were on the edge of their seats, cheering with excitement. Win or lose, it was still a wonderful morning filled with team spirit, smiles, and lots of Canadian pride!

Orchard Court recently hosted a celebration in honour of Edith’s 100th birthday! 🎂🎈

Born in Halifax, Edith later settled in Kentville, where she quickly found the place she would proudly call home. Today, she remains joyfully busy, surrounded by her loving family, sharing her baking talents, and cherishing the many friendships she continues to cultivate.

A beautiful cake, lively games, and familiar songs created birthday cheer that brought everyone together to celebrate a woman who has positively impacted so many lives.

Cheers to Edith, 100 years of love, laughter, resilience, and cherished memories.

Winter is still in full swing at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, with a Snowmen contest!

Team members and residents used materials found in the home to dress each other up in an exciting snowman competition. This lively event filled the community with laughter and winter spirit.

We are honoured to share this touching poem from Mae Berggren, a Continuing Care Assistant at Vimy Court 💙

In her writing, Mae captures the deeply human experience of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, something she witnesses with compassion every day. While the journey can be difficult, Mae’s words remind us of the difference that empathy, patience, and support can make. Her poem highlights how meaningful it is to walk alongside someone during moments of uncertainty, offering both care and connection.

Love is in the air at Thomas Hall!

Fredericton’s Thomas Hall recreation team recently hosted a Sweet Social to celebrate Valentine’s Day, bringing together residents and Nursing Without Walls clients. Everyone enjoyed delicious treats, plenty of laughs and beautiful live music by Jim Campbell.
