Another awesome Uncover Your Essence Youth Conference.

Tons of youth stopped by and chatted and picked up free products for themselves or a friend.

We received an anonymous donation for this event and happy to report that we were able to provide the youth with ample products as well as a donation to Fairview Junior High and products to Coverdale Society (at the end of the day).

A glorious day indeed.

As I sit here reflecting on International Women’s Day 2026, 🌏 my thoughts turn to our nonprofit — the Period Equity Alliance Society (PEAS) 💮 — and the recent funding cuts in Nova Scotia that will deeply impact organizations like ours. These changes mean that smaller, grassroots groups will now be competing with larger, more established nonprofits for limited grants.

But if there’s one thing our team has proven time and again, it’s that we know how to pivot. Just as we adapted during COVID, we’ll adapt again.

We may be a nonprofit, but this year, we’re ready to dance. We’re ready to move, to explore new partnerships, and to reach out to investors, sponsors, and allies who understand how urgent it is to end barriers to menstrual products and equitable menstrual health education.

I have many strong connections here, and this month “international Women’s Month”, I’m putting out a call:

If you’re interested in meeting, collaborating, or supporting the work of PEAS, I’d love to have that conversation. Together, we can build a future where menstrual equity isn’t a privilege — it’s a right.

Today we recognize International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women everywhere. We also honor Mother Earth, whose generosity sustains all life, and Grandmother Moon, who guides the waters and cycles within us.

In this spirit, the artwork “Seven Generations Moons” by Métis artist Leah Marie Dorion celebrates women as keepers of wisdom and nurturers of life. According to the painting description by Dorion, it depicts two young Métis girls guided by their Elder as they water the Tree of Life. Their prayers nurture the tree, sending healing energy through the Earth, Moon, and sky, reflecting the sacred feminine and the responsibility to care for the Earth with the next seven generations in mind.

Today, we uplift women, girls, and gender-diverse kin, and celebrate those who continue to lead, nurture, and inspire.

From one woman’s doorstep to a province-wide movement.

Period Equity Alliance Society began with Missy Searl quietly delivering personal care items from her home. Today, PEAS is a nonprofit partnering with schools, shelters, community organizations, and local champions to provide barrier-free access to menstrual products and dignity across Nova Scotia.
