NSCMLT regulates the practice of Medical Laboratory Technology in Nova Scotia.

Fundamental roles of NSCMLT include:

◾Establish registration and licensing processes and requirements for MLTs in Nova Scotia

◾Establish, monitor and enforce standards of MLT practice and MLT code of ethics

◾Establish MLT education standards and approve MLT education programs that lead to initial entry into the profession

◾Ensure MLTs are continually learning to maintain standards and enhance their practice

◾Establish and maintain professional conduct parameters and review processes to investigate allegations, complaints and concerns about MLTs practice

◾Implement disciplinary action as required

◾Question and act when concerns are put forward about patient safety
